In the Moment

Does this feel like a week of new beginning? I am astonished at the amount of energy I have, now that the heavy wait for U.S. election news is behind us. I feel light and so much joy! I hope you have access to something like this feeling too. I have been hearing from dear hearts, a great mixture of feelings. Relief manifests in many ways. It may need to pass through grief and uncertainty before we can fully absorb the lightening of such a traumatic burden.

I listen weekly to a brilliant black activist and storyteller, Janaya Khan, and yesterday they spoke about just this: the importance of embracing the joy and the satisfaction of a tremendous victory. And, remembering how much work is ahead — choosing to continue on a path toward justice while maintaining a PRINCIPLED POSITIVITY. What are our principles? In 2020 this question is in the forefront. Clarifying and developing our thinking, our language, our understandings, our spiritual beliefs and practices — these tasks feel essential to me. I am taking them to heart in my studies, and teaching.

From election to victory — all that patient endurance, enduring patience — was supported by deliberately and vigilantly calling in LIGHT, and practices that sustain the ability to do that. For me this included community connection, time and space for self-care and self-expression, and very deliberate energy-clearing — to not become stuck in fear or anxiety nor projecting into the future what could not yet be known. I hope you have had access to what you needed this week, and that you feel good — a new dawn, a new day, a new life (listen).

There is no better time to be alive than in this lively moment.
