Simple & Easy

What a gift are these soft days in early October! I hope that where you are, the weather is gentle. I had been feeling that I have not filled up my sunshine-tank — so needed before the days become short — and I am grateful for the warmth and blue skies we are experiencing in Toronto this week.

I am also grateful for the abundant show of support for art and artists at an open house on Saturday, where I keep a tiny studio nook…It was a great day, connecting with other artists in community and making some sales ♥️ I’m happy to picture running deer and chrysanthemum bowls, city-scape tumblers and Fold vessels in their new homes. Click the image above for a 1-minute video of my cubby-hole-studio turned pop-up-shop!

Sadly, Sky Mandala Silks did not arrive in time for this open house — they land this week, and you will see new products in that line soon. Stay tuned!

We had a sweet first session in our new meditation class last Tuesday, beginning with basic mindfulness practices. This week I’ll be introducing some kriya yog to add to our palette — breath, sounding, and (generally) seated movements, with a focus on mudra, or hand-shapes. These practices offer another way in toward a centred state where we can rest the mind, and I’m excited to share them.

I am liking this language best these days, of inviting rest and ease to show up — and keeping it simple. It’s easy to become tangled in ideas about meditation (and art!), but really, it’s an experiential practice and the best way to make friends with it is simply to do. And it’s fun to do together.

You are welcome to sign up for individual drop-in sessions, or commit to a bundle of 5. Classes take place on Tuesdays at 6 pm, both in-studio and online

If you have a membership at Mosaic Yoga Studio, or hold class passes there, those can be applied to the meditation class also — in that case, please book with Mosaic directly. Note Mosaic has a special on through October 6, in celebration of their 6-year anniversary: 6 classes for the 5-class price.
