Moving Meditations with Delcy Morelos' Ombligo
I am thrilled to announce a new series of meditation and movement sessions at the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) in collaboration with Mosaic Yoga. Join me for an experience of moving meditation within Delcy Morelos’ multi-sensory installation, Ombligo. Encounter up close this curving, belly-like form, composed of sisal rope, soil, and corn husks, and imbued with an evocative aroma blended by the artist.
Morelos creates powerful environments that engage the earth as both medium and metaphor, exploring themes of spirituality, memory, and the intertwined histories of land, labour, and colonialism. Pulling inspiration from the ingenuity of the spider, Morelos has spun and woven a sensory web of presence, fragrance and texture, a space for reflection.
In a gentle play of movement, intentional breath, sounding and meditation, we are invited to experience this installation with all of our senses. In smallness, close to this great belly of earth, we may bring mindfulness to an embodying awareness. What will we find in this place, senses attuned and awakening?
