changeable form

Tomorrow morning I will teach the last class at Breathe Yoga Studio, as that 20-year-old business draws to a close. I am marking this change with remembering, while winds blow fierce outside my window: form exists in the realm of change.

Practice that can help us navigate change, is form — which changes. Nothing is fixed.

How wonderful!

As I practiced in the strong heat this week, I felt the obvious ways that heat changes my physical body, and physical practice. Spontaneous memory of my teachers arose in my mind, a shifting sense of both comfort and friction in the grooves and residue of learning, of guidance. I noticed how this practice continues to unfold, how it holds me in new ways as it matures. How deeply it has changed, and will continue to change. As I change, and continue to change. As the circumstances around me change, and continue to change.

There is loss in change, and freedom. I welcome the spectrum of emotions that can arise with change, and the equanimity that is here. Being form, being change — all welcome.

Within change, there are patterns — rising and falling breath, rising and setting sun, the turn from season to season. Join us as we mark Summer Solstice on TUESDAY JUNE 21, 7:30 pm — our last meditation in sangha before September.

Sangha is community, association, assembly — gathering together in Buddhist traditions.
