A Winter Solstice Meditation Retreat

December 27 – 31, 2021
8:30–9 :30 a.m.

As each calendar year ends, on the heels of Winter Solstice, I make a point to mark the transition with intention. There is something so delicious about retreats at this time of year. I find a sense of newness emerges by paying attention to how the natural world changes with the season, and by dropping into resonance with that. There is an inward quality to the season of winter, and an outward quality to our holiday celebrations. With tempering and balance, this can be a rich time of rest, and if we are blessed, a deeply generative quality can be found in these dark, cold days.

A week of morning practice, as the sun rises and each day emerges from the dark.

Join me in a week-long mini-retreat, 8:30–9:30 am, Monday to Friday, December 27–31st.

• a daily meditation practice
• a daily expressive practice
• a daily somatic practice

As with each seasonal retreat, I will give a brief reading or talk, and we will have a 20 minute meditation together. This retreat expands on the form to include expressive practice (creativity!) such as prompted or free writing, or drawing, body-mind practice including mudras, pranayam, or chants.

One week of daily practice is enough time to set a pattern. Let’s see where that pattern takes us! I look forward to deep listening, play, rest, and reflection in these five days, readying the candles and bells to ring in the New Year.
