May the great bright sun
shine sparkling through
the gem of your precious life

As we cross the threshold from one season to the next, I wish you a happy Summer Solstice! This is a favourite season, ripe with anniversaries in my life, but it holds an extra layer of poignancy this year in a time of continued geographic separation from so many loved ones. Slowly, we begin to plan for future days together. The sun burns through. I invite the pure light and pure heat of the sun into my heart, and into yours too, if you want it!

In July, I invite you to Welcome Summer with the next mini-retreat: July 5-9, 8–8:30 am. As with each seasonal retreat, this practice centers a morning meditation, every day for one week.

Readings & Resources

On Indigenous People's Day, The Sierra Club of British Columbia shared a 4-page mini-site available that invites engagement with the day, in your own time and at your own pace — SCBC's Invitation to See Things Differently.

“This gift is abundant. We hope this gift can serve as an opening to doing the work of decolonizing both minds and lands and working towards being in genuine reciprocal and good relation.

We know that one day is not enough. Today is just a beginning. We invite this learning to continue after sunset today. We hope this resource aids in seeing through a new lens; one that is able to be carried forward.”

...

I am curating a list of online resources via a bookmark tool (Wakelet) which provide background and inspiration in regard to indigenous and ecological issues; the emphasis is on BC, where I am most attuned (and where my current writing is set). Here also is collection of recommendations with a book-sharing app (Oku.club), here.
