A Playful Approach to Inversions

I am excited to offer a brand-new yoga workshop in early May, which will focus on accessible inversions. We regularly take supported inverted postures in our weekly rope-wall classes at Mosaic Yoga Studio — but rarely do we have the opportunity to explore them deeply, and take what we can learn from this passive traction, into action. Many practitioners believe that inversions like headstand or handstand are outside the scope of their ability — but with the rope wall, they discover they can do it! The sense of empowerment and capability that comes with this discovery is such a joy to behold.

Rope-wall yoga uses a system of props to provide resistance and support for luxurious, adaptable traction. Rope-wall practice encourages core stability and flexibility, and is accessible for most students. In this workshop, we will explore inversions such as headstand, handstand, and shoulder-stand, using rope wall versions as an entry point to make the benefits of these poses accessible to practitioners at any level of experience. This workshop will provide opportunities to become comfortable with, or deepen into, these expansive, joyful, liberating poses —whether they are new to you, or familiar old friends.
